Top 10 Stinkiest Monsters
Get up to 21% OFF Wicked Warlock's best selling candles - wickedwarlock.com/pages/ttrpg-bundles
This video is quite stinky indeed. Here's the ability I designed:
Acrid Stench. Any creature other than a catoblepas that starts its turn
Within 30 feet of the catoblepas must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature becomes incapacitated until the end of its next turn and becomes poisoned for 2 (1d4 + 1) hours. In addition, the affected creature gains this ability for the same duration.
On a successful saving throw, the creature is immune to the stench for 1 hour.

The Radiant Citadel is an interesting concept for a settlement, but falls short with how strongly the writers tried to make it a place of convenient justice. I'll just set this horrid memory here. I grew up kinda rough. I had to work as a preteen onwards. So... When I was 14, I had to help my boss remove a dead cow from the back pasture. It was at least a week old. I grabbed the back legs to wrap the chains around it's ankles. Three possums immediately squirted out the cow's ASS. All covered in blood and shit. You simply cannot imagine the smell. Literally NOTHING else stinks to me.

I actually have an idea for another "inevitability" and Im honestly surprised it doesnt exist. Souls. Tons of so stuff in dnd revolve around souls and we know they can be tempered with and that gods reaaaally dont like it if you mess with/destroy them because thats where they draw their power from. If I remember correctly they are also semi limited so it would make sense that they would need protecting. Especially since we do know of things like mindflayers that can destroy them permanently. It honestly seems kind of weird to me that there are inevitables for all of the stuff revolving around death but not for the most important part of it, the passing on of the soul.

On a successful saving throw, the creature is immune to the stench for an hour???? I'd say that's pushing it lol I think if you were in an environment like that, every breath would deduce less and less to be more susceptible to being affected....think Black Mold. Somebody with a higher constitution might be able to handle a longer duration inhaling it but will eventually succumb if in that environment for too long......maybe tone it down to "this creature is immune to the stench for 10 minutes?" still pushing it but mechanically I think it would work better. It would be a natural hazard timer the players have to kill or shoo away this thing.

I once had to remove a fridge from a storage unit in the middle of summer. It had no power. It had been in there for months. Whoever put it in, had left a gallon of icecream & a whole turkey in the freezer. Now, I've been around the body of a deer that's been rotting for a week in the sun. It is one of THE most wretched stinks I've had to endure. I think for the smell itself, the deer tops the list. But for the absolute POTENCY and RANGE of what was dubbed "the turkey fridge", it is hard to compare. Even closed, it had to be set FAR away until we finished loading everything from the unit onto the trailer. We dropped it in the desert with the door open to let everything bake & dry out so we could clean it without risking a biohazard. So yeah, rotting bodies really stink. And sorry you've got that fridge-situation. I hope that, gross as it is, it's not as bad as my story.

In an incredibly large majority of Christian denominations, the Son of God is viewed as God. Think of it this way: A cat gives birth to a cat, a dog gives birth to a dog, a human gives birth to another human, and a god gives birth to another god. But if you define God as "the greatest thing," then there can be no other (otherwise it would not be the greatest thing). So, if that monotheistic God has a Son, then that Son would just be "more of God," like water flowing from a river into a lake. This idea was not a later invention of the church, but something early Christians followed -- given all reliable documentation. The disputes 300 years (after Jesus) were not disputes due to a church coming up with new stuff -- but rather, they were disputes that arose due to a different group claiming that the Son and the Spirit were lesser beings. In response, the classic Christian view of Father, Son, and Spirit being one God was "defined" and then "labeled" with the new term "Trinity" -- a new term that represented the classic teaching.

Don't push this - a button on a pedestal , with a sign Saying "Don't push this", upon being pushed ominous Loud mechanical sounds are heard like the opening or closing of a heavy door (some times i like to put a very loud and Malevolent voice say "you have DOOMED all of us Fools" (or similar) to spice it up, whether it does any thing at all is up to you, i usually put it in middle of a Dungeon so they are asking questions like have we sealed ourselves in or have we opened something the BBEG wanted shut off from the dungeon ( my favorite with the open idea is even though their may be no monster have loud stomping growling and scratching sounds can be heard Echoing around (magically created, they will not be able to tell if it is magic only if the find a glowing rune when it makes the sound), now they wonder if they released something thing in the area ahead or the level bellow, his type of thing will put them on edge and make them paranoid as all hell, oh and you can have it actually release something they will will be horrified if in the last Dungeon it did nothing (Ain't i a Stinker) - - - And trust me, someone will want to push the button every time

  • @darksider111

Build them up then knock them down - One of my favorites is to make two or three false pits, they are in reality only one or two feet deep with an illusion of a Spiked pit trap cast on them entirely Harmless, so they found the first ones harmless and only illusion now to be mean, so they come to the next and cast detect magic and bingo an illusion so instead of Jumping over they jump in, because the others were harmless so this one will be too (now as the DM You should be asking "are you sure you want to do that" with each pit trap, informing them as jumping in (i personally Think this stands up) negates a saving throw to catch them selves), only this is a pit trap and disappear into the trap, (and yes i am the asshole here) because they jumped in negates a saving throw but they will get a dexterity roll for half damage as pit traps Do around 11 (2d10) piercing damage from the spikes , this if they are successful they take a few points of damage, but this type of thing will put them on edge and make them paranoid as they will not trust anything and really slow down the party is the floor real - is the carpet real - did the statue move - all fun for the DM as you smile and say "as far as you can tell it looks safe, as far as you can tell "

With non-human species, players have to remember that they are all setting specific. Warforged only exist in an Eberron campaign. Thri-kreen only exist in a Dark Suns campaign. Owlin only exist in a Strixhaven campaign.
